The Kiwanis Club of Park Ridge holds its 42nd Annual Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, Sept. 19, at Park Ridge Presbyterian Church.
The breakfast begins at 7 a.m. at the church, 1300 West Crescent Ave. Proceeds support local charities that serve children, teens and young adults in the Park Ridge area, according to the event listing on Stroll Park Ridge.
The club has been active in Park Ridge since 1925. Its fundraising supports nonprofits that serve children and their families, and it funds scholarships for Maine South High School Key Club students, according to the club's website.
Among the organizations the Kiwanis Club supports are the Maine-Niles Association of Special Recreation (M-NASR), The Harbour, the District 207 High School Based Health Center, Compass to Care, Avenues to Independence and Special Olympics. The club also backs Park Ridge Baseball, Friends of the Park and School District 64 programs.
The club runs community service projects year-round, including Sunday Night Suppers, GoGreen Forest Preserve Cleanups and fresh fruit distribution at the St. Paul of the Cross Pantry.
