Park Ridge's single-use plastic bag ban takes effect Jan. 1, 2027, at stores with at least 7,500 square feet. Shoppers will need to bring reusable bags or use recyclable paper.

The Northern Illinois Transit Authority Board voted unanimously to extend its reduced-fare Access program to CTA and Pace starting Oct. 1, cutting fares roughly in half for SNAP recipients on routes that serve Park Ridge and Niles.
