Five Park Ridge homeowners received $100 prizes, lawn signs and a year of Garden Club membership after Mayor Maloney presented the 35th Annual Residential Beautification Awards at the Aug. 17 City Council meeting.

The winners, selected for making their homes and landscapes the most attractive in the city, according to the Park Ridge Garden Club:

  • Robert and Denise Bosco, 1512 Marguerite St.
  • Nancy Bourbon, 27 S. Chester Ave.
  • Ellen Collins, 901 S. Aldine Ave.
  • Lynne Crowley, 320 S. Lincoln Ave.
  • Tom and Laurie Mallin, 301 S. Vine Ave.

The contest, co-sponsored by the city and the Garden Club, judges free-standing single-family homes across Park Ridge. Each winner takes home $100 from the Garden Club, a complimentary one-year club membership and a city-issued lawn sign marking the honor.

The ceremony fell under the Mayor's Report portion of the regular council meeting. It caps a busy season for the Garden Club, which held its annual Plant Sale in May at Cumberland Park and assisted Park District staff with plantings there as part of its broader beautification mission.

The city promoted the contest on its official Facebook page earlier this year, urging residents to nominate properties that stand out in their neighborhoods.

Now in its 35th year, the program is one of Park Ridge's longest-running community recognition traditions.
