Park Ridge residents can donate everyday essentials like gloves, snacks and hygiene items this month for Kindness Kits headed to neighbors in need.
The Park Ridge Public Library and Together Park Ridge launched the collection drive for November. Assembled kits will be distributed through the library and local groups, according to a post by Park Ridge Mayor Marty Maloney on Facebook.
The drive wraps up with a kit assembly event open to all ages on Thursday, Dec. 3, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the library's first-floor meeting room.
What to donate
Maloney listed the items organizers are collecting:
- Granola bars, snacks/chips and trail mix/nuts
- Body wipes, feminine care items and tissue packs
- Unisex gloves and socks
- Lip balm, bandages and hand warmers
Where to drop off
Residents who shop from a retailer other than Amazon can use the wish list as a guide and bring items to any of these locations, according to the library's announcement:
- City Hall
- Cooney Funeral Home
- Park Ridge Presbyterian Church
- 1433 S. Ashland
Donors can also ship items directly to the library through an Amazon wish list linked on the library's website.
Assembly night
Volunteers of all ages are welcome at the Dec. 3 assembly event. Maloney said the finished kits will be prepared for the library and local groups to distribute through their outreach efforts.
