A free walking group is meeting Monday evenings in Uptown Park Ridge, giving residents a low-key way to meet neighbors while getting some exercise outdoors.
Park Ridge Strollers, organized by Stroll Park Ridge, gathers at 6 p.m. on select Mondays at the Stroll Park Ridge office, 132 S. Prospect Ave. Walks run an hour and require no registration fee or prior commitment.
The group's event listing describes the program as low-pressure, focused on fresh air and good company. The Stroll Park Ridge community calendar lists walks on Aug. 10, 17 and 24, all from 6 to 7 p.m. at the same Prospect Avenue location.
Dolly McCarthy, publisher of Stroll Park Ridge and a former Chicago news anchor, runs the community magazine and events platform from the Prospect Avenue office. The organization hosts a slate of free programming aimed at building neighborhood connections, including Sunday Yoga in the Park at Hodges Park and a monthly book club.
Residents interested in joining can email [email protected] or RSVP through strollparkridge.com. No gear or experience is required.
