Notre Dame College Prep hosts fourth-ranked Brother Rice at Legends Field in Niles on Friday, Sept. 18, in a nonconference football doubleheader.

The sophomore game kicks off at 5 p.m.

Varsity follows at 7:30 p.m.

The Dons have posted three wins this season, including a 30-25 victory over Benet Academy in Week 4 and a 21-0 shutout of St. Viator in Week 3. Senior wide receiver Peter Panagiotopoulos has been a standout, hauling in seven catches for 109 yards and a touchdown against Benet, according to Shaw Local. He opened the year with seven catches for 142 yards and a score against Westinghouse. Quarterback Eric Couper has been his primary target.

Head coach Dan DeFranza, a 1990 NDCP graduate, was inducted into the East Suburban Catholic Conference Hall of Fame in April.

Brother Rice (2-2) enters the game ranked No. 4 in the Chicago Sun-Times Super 25 and No. 6 in the SI.com state poll. The Crusaders' two losses came by a combined four points: 22-21 to Lincoln-Way East and 27-24 to Loyola Academy.

The Sun-Times reported that Crusaders coach Casey Quedenfeld expressed frustration with late mental lapses in the Loyola loss but was still pegged as the local favorite in the Class 7A playoffs. Freshman quarterback Sam Holcomb ripped off a 71-yard run in that game.

SI.com noted in its Sept. 14 state rankings that Brother Rice would "have to be careful not to overlook" the Dons, with a Sept. 25 home date against No. 2 Mt. Carmel on deck.

NDCP competes in IHSA Class 6A and the Chicago Catholic League. The school's athletics department announced the doubleheader on X, noting that fans unable to attend can watch the live stream through ND Media Crew on YouTube. Tickets are available through GoFan.
