A Chicago man was arrested after crashing his car while driving under the influence on Merrill Street in Park Ridge on Friday, July 24, marking the most serious incident in a week that saw nine total arrests citywide.

Alfredo Avila Guzman, 61, of the 6800 block of North Northwest Highway in Chicago, was stopped at 8 S. Merrill St. at 7:09 p.m. and charged with DUI, DUI with a blood-alcohol content greater than 0.08, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and improper left turn, according to the Park Ridge Police weekly arrest report.

The arrest occurred in the early evening, before most of the week's other stops.

Speeding dominated the week

Seven of the nine arrests involved speeding charges, with most drivers clocked at 26-34 mph over the posted limit. Three of those also included operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

Youssef Aboustate, 19, of Morton Grove, was the first arrest of the week. He was stopped Monday, July 20, at Greenwood Avenue and Dempster Street at 8:48 p.m. and charged with speeding 26-34 mph over the limit.

Wasil Saberi, 19, of Des Plaines, was arrested Thursday, July 23, at 2:07 a.m. at Dempster Street and Luther Lane for speeding 26-34 mph over the limit and driving an uninsured vehicle. Tatiana Arias, 27, of Chicago, was stopped later that morning at Dee Road and Devon Avenue for the same speeding range.

Randy Ali, 40, of Morton Grove, drew three charges Thursday at 1133 W. Austin Ave.: speeding 15-20 mph over the limit, improper passing on the left and driving on a revoked license.

Michael Rivera, 38, of Des Plaines, was arrested early Friday, July 24, at Oakton Street and Seeley Avenue for speeding 26-34 mph over the limit and operating an uninsured vehicle. Ty Ustaszewski, 27, of Chicago, was stopped that same morning at 701 W. Devon Ave. for the same speeding range.

Carlos Orellana Pena, 43, of Chicago, rounded out the week Saturday, July 25, at Talcott Road and Greenwood Avenue. He was charged with speeding 26-34 mph over the limit and never having been issued a driver's license.

Juvenile faces five charges on Dee Road

A 17-year-old Norridge male was arrested Wednesday, July 22, at 2100 N. Dee Rd. at 8:08 p.m. He faced five charges: speeding 15-20 mph over the limit, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, no valid registration, no turn signal lights and no valid motorcycle driver's license. The teen was operating a motorcycle without proper licensure.

Recent DUI arrests in Park Ridge

The Avila Guzman arrest follows two DUI arrests during the week of July 6-13: Dawid Zbylut on July 8 for DUI and leaving the scene of an accident, and Adrian Skinner on July 12 for DUI and illegal transportation of alcohol, according to a separate [department report](https://www.parkridge.us/PD Weekly Summary/Weekly Arrests 07-06-2026 through 07-13-2026.pdf?t=202607151633180).

The nine arrests for the week of Monday, July 20, through Monday, July 27, represent one fewer than the prior week of July 13-20, which included 10 arrests and a felony drug charge.
